David Adam has written extensively on Celtic Spirituality over many years. His latest book includes many new and unpublished poems and prayers. They reinforce his theme that we should find time to stop and give thanks to God. This is a book to read slowly and thoughtfully because its purpose is to enable the reader to find moments in daily life to pause and be grateful to God for all blessings and grace. Being too busy is the enemy of a disciple of Christ: we need to pause and listen.

The author tells the story of a visitor bursting into the Church on Holy Island asking if this was the Holy Island church. On being told that it was, the visitor closed the door and moved on, but failed to enter and appreciate its beauty and to experience the presence of God. David Adam encourages the reader to pause.

Through reading each chapter and by participating in the suggested exercises, the reader can learn to find and savour the God whom we are often too busy serving to enjoy.

I read a chapter every morning and found it very beneficial.
